Cillian Murphy & The UNESCO Child & Family Research Centre
Centre Patron, Cillian Murphy
Actor Cillian Murphy is patron of the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre at the National University of Ireland Galway. His commitment to the work of the Centre stems from a shared interest in empowering young people to actively engage in their communities and in building their capacity to influence change on issues that matter to them. Through his affiliation with the Youth Research strand of the UCFRC, Cillian has championed the importance of research led by young people including the international launch of two videos documenting the findings of youth researchers on mental health awareness and the challenges facing LGBT youth. He has also hosted ‘in conversation’ events with young people on a number of issues including empathy, resilience and the importance of social support.
